The Crystal River Florida area is a great scalloping destination. A typical scalloping charter consist of a very enjoyable boat ride from Kings Bay out to the saltwater flats of Crystal River and Ozello. Once on the flats guests can enjoy swimming (or floating) for sea scallops in the refreshing, crystal clear waters found off the coast of Ozello. Scalloping usually takes place in waters 3-6′ deep with the sea scallops being found on the lush green seagrass below your feet. They can be collected by hand or dip-net and the current FWC limits are 2 1/2 gallons of these tasty treats per person.

Paradise Found offers scallop diving tours. Scallops can be caught easily. The only gear required is a mask, fin and snorkel. Scallops move by closing their shell and jetting out water. The real trick to catching scallops is finding them. Using our local seasoned tour guide will make this much easier.

Scallop season is from July 1 until September 25.

Scalloping reopened in 2002 after a 7 year ban. During this scalloping ban, scallops numbers dramatically increased and are again abundant in the waters around the Crystal River and Homosassa Springs area. Scallops bed in waist-deep water. This can be a leisure activity as you enjoy the Florida sun or snorkel while others in your private group dive for scallops.

The rates for a 4-hour Scalloping Excursion is $350, up to 6 people.

Day trips are also available for $500 per day, up to 6 people.
